Super Saturdays

Super Saturdays Winter Session 2009. Group Art Classes for Kids on Saturdays, 10:00am-12:00noon. $25 per class. Please bring a snack for the break.

January 10
#700 "Collage About You" (4-6 years). Explore who you are by learning the art of collage making. Instructor: Caroline Buetow.

#701 "A Starry Night" (7-10 years). The topic is the night sky, moonlight, and the famous painting by Vincent Van Gogh. We will create our own starry nights with thick painted swirls. Instructor: Jane Noble.

#703 "Experimental Drawing" (7-10 years). There are lots of different ways to draw. Students will draw with different materials, use drawing to interpret music and even create a life size drawing of themselves. Instructor: Caroline Buetow.

#704 "Snow Day" (4-6 years). Snow Day. We'll pile puff paint snow on trees, buildings and cars in our winter snowstorm paintings. We'll also make snowman sculptures. Instructor: Jane Noble.

#705 "Modern Masters" (7-10 years). Learn about the artwork of Henri Matisse and Georges Seurat. Then we will explore their techniques and create our own art work in their style. Instructor: Caroline Buetow.

#708 "Mudworks" (4-6 years). Explore clay and creative doughs for modeling. Messy and fun. Instructor: Caroline Buetow.

#709 "Sculpture" (7-10 years). We'll learn about some famous sculptures and then create our own 3-D forms from wood, wire and recycled materials. Instructor: Jane Noble.
February 14
#710 "XOXO Valentine's Day Fun" (4-6 years). We'll mix paint to create pastel colors: pinks, lavendars and some brand new colors we'll have to name. Hearts, flowers, lots of love. Instructor: Jane Noble.

#711 "It's Valentine's Day!" (7-10 years). Students will make cards and favors to celebrate the day. Instructor: Caroline Buetow.

#712 "Mixed-Up Media" (4-6 years). Students will use different materials to create art. Instructor: Caroline Buetow.

#714 "Fairies" (4-6 years). We will imagine the world of fairies, then make some small fairies and a special garden for them to live in. Instructor: Jane Noble.

#715 "Artist's Books" (7-10 years). Learn to bind and create your very own book. We will learn different types of binding and create books that can be used as sketchbooks, photo albums, journals, or whatever you can imagine. Kathy Engebretsen.

#716 "Printmaking" (4-6 years). Learn a variety of printmaking techniques. These may include mono-prints, gadget prints, styrofoam block prints or others. Instructor: Caroline Buetow.

#717 "Fairy Gardens" (7-10 years). Create a small fairy garden using real plants, sculpey clay and recycled materials. Instructor: Jane Noble.
March 21
#718 "Puppets" (4-6 years). We will make lots of different kinds of puppets. Instructor: Caroline Buetow.

#719 "Dragons" (7-10 years). Explore the history of dragons in various cultures. Learn drawing techniques to create an authentic looking dragon, then make a dragon from clay. Instructor: Jane Noble.
March 28
#720 "Spring Hats" (4-6 years). Create an elegant hat to celebrate the arrival of spring! We'll make hats from paper and decorate them with flowers and other sparkly things. Kathy Engebretsen.

#721 "Miniatures" (7-10 years). Create a miniature room with tiny furnishings using fun foam, beads, wire, and little wooden shapes. Instructor: Jane Noble.
